COVID-19 Update – FACILITY CLOSURE

To protect our community, and in response to the declaration of a State of Emergency in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), our council partner has made the decision to close Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre starting from Saturday the 21st of March, 2020 until the 30th of April 2020. If the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continue beyond this date, it may be necessary for the closure to be extended.

In light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) developments and as a result of the Commonwealth Government decision on public gatherings, the Centre will be closed until further notice as part of our efforts to ensure the continued wellness of our members and staff.

The Centre is working to ensure the health and safety of all patrons and staff is maintained. We want to address the growing fears around the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and share with you the information we have at the current time.

The health and safety of our community is our main priority, we always uphold a high standard of hygiene within the centre, however, are taking extra precautions during this time.

We hope you will do what you can to take care of yourself and those around you, we also encourage you to use and support our community facility with confidence when it is safe to do so.

Update – 12/05/2020 5:00pm

We’re thrilled that we are starting to feel a little bit of freedom. Aquarena Aquatic and Leisure Centre and Manningham Council are working together on what the new ease of restrictions might look like as a partial re-opening of our Centre. With the relaxing of restrictions, it is now more important than ever to be safe and sensible. We’re ensuring that for you!

All members will be updated via email if we are able to re-open safely with these new restriction changes. Follow us on social media to stay up to date.

Update – 08/05/2020 5:00pm

Following todays Federal announcements we have received a number of enquiries about our re-opening.

Please be assured we are closely monitoring further State Government announcements regarding the easing of social restrictions and as we become clearer on these guidelines, we will make a decision on our re-opening and will communicate this to you as soon as possible.

Our focus remains the health and safety of our staff and communities. We have done extensive planning and will continue to take our time to make the best decision for everyone before we confirm a date.

Update – 20/03/2020 10:30pm

Our Centre will be closed from Saturday 21st March until the 30th of April 2020.  If the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continue beyond this date, it may be necessary for the closure to be extended.

As soon as we are all-clear to reopen, you’ll be the first to know! The good news is we have not received any information to indicate that an individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 has been in the Centre.

The Centre will be vigilant in implementing infection control procedures including daily cleaning in accordance with normal protocols, the promotion of healthy hygiene habits and will make hand sanitiser available for staff and patrons to use while using the Centre.

For now, the best advice is to follow some simple steps to help slow the spread of the virus and to reduce the risk of infection.

Suspensions

All direct debit memberships have been suspended. All term memberships will receive time extensions. Any payments that have been made will be available as a credit upon reopening. We will continue to provide further updates as they become available.​

Why is the centre closed?

When will the centre reopen?

The Centre is closed currently the 30th of April 2020.  If the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continue beyond this date, it may be necessary for the closure to be extended as part of our efforts to ensure the continued wellness of our members and staff. Our Council partners and Centre management will reassess the situation each day and make the decision to reopen once we feel the community is in a safe situation to do so or once government bodies suggest it is ok to do so.

What are we doing to minimise the health risks in centres?

Can I suspend my membership?

All direct debit health club and aquatic memberships and swim school memberships have been suspended. All term memberships will receive time extensions. Any payments that have been made will be available as a credit upon reopening.

What happens to my booking?

If you have a booking or program running in our Centre over the next 30 days, please reach out to Centre staff to rescheduled this or look at cancellation options, if necessary.

If I am undergoing a period of self-isolation, what happens to my membership?
If you are showing symptoms or have been recommended by a Health Professional to self isolate, you should be staying at home and minimising contact with others.  Please contact the Centre team to discuss managing your membership where you are uncertain of your options.

What happens to any Swim School lessons or Personal Training sessions I have booked?

Are free trials and guest passes still available?

Once the Centre reopens we will be taking extra precautions surrounding the access to our centre. With our tightened control measures surrounding international visitations, free trials and guest passes will only be available to local residents. We ask that members, guests, and the general public wishing to access our clubs adhere to the health and travel declaration and practice good personal hygiene. If they feel unwell, they should not come to the club and instead, seek immediate medical attention. Keeping the gym safe is a collective effort from members, their guest and us.

Are casual passes still available for purchase?

With our tightened control measures surrounding international visitations, day passes will only be available to local residents when the Centre is reopen.
